It's nice to have a chance to listen to something fresh with a crossover appeal. If we have to have a description it's folk/rock, Americana even. It is the acoustic guitar and cello that lead into the opener 'hello hello hello' with a foot tapping upbeat pace and influx of harmonica. The ballads and up-tempo songs have solid vocal harmonies never get over-complicated and it leads me back to that word fresh. McCullough Crane 'The Fly'I've got a lot of time for Massimo, easily one of the best acts around at the mo - and believe me, I've seen a few! Singer/songwriter Massimo Martella, a familiar face on the Sheffield scene, (since moved to London) has one of the most instantly recognisable vocals around. He has surrounded himself with a group of incredible musicians to complete the Remain Seated E.P. Subject matter ranges from getting caught poaching, to paedophilic school teachers (start saving for that lawsuit)! To pin him with a label is difficult - but schizophrenic isn't far off the mark. Sometimes funny, sometimes moving, sometimes controversial - but always inspirational, my advice would be to check him out while you can. With a 'Bullet' Showcase (Camden) and Barfly gig (Chalk farm) in June, it looks like Massimo Martella is about to take off!! Carl Reid 'The Classic Rock Society' |
| Samples are low quality mono mp3's for easy streaming on slow connections. The CD is hi-fi stereo. |

Apologies for not getting back sooner about the demo, but I’ve been finishing an album and it’s taken longer than expected. Your song did have a good edge and was very controversial and it depends totally on how you want to be perceived by the audience. Songs of this nature(political issues etc) can sometimes leave an indelible mark on the writer/performer. Perhaps it might be an idea to write several other songs in a similar vein but using different themes so that the issues can be ‘spread out’ more. I hope this is of some help. I’m sorry that ‘The Plaines’ are not together anymore. I thought they were a really good unit. Nevertheless, all the best with the new material. Ray Davies - Aug 05
Ciao Massimo, provero' venire a vederti di nuovo dal vivo, sei un personaggio! Alberto Bon - Jul 05

Massimo played a great floor spot at my open mic night. He makes a cheery, bright change from the norm of singer/songwriters. He's an accomlipshed songwriter and a superb performer. Its defiantely worth checking out his CD or catching him at a gig. Jason Phillips - Jun 05
Hello Massimo, thanks for the quick response, we will have someone check out your gig. I will be in contact to discuss further about playing the Bush Hall show. Take care. Tall Poppy Records Ryan - May 05
Hello massimo, enjoyed meeting you and hearing your music on friday night at the Playroom. I meant to give you our Email address before i left. If you know of any good places to play let me know and hopefully we'll see you around. Jon - May 05
What do you mean by sinners in the synogogue? I've never heard your music but with lyrics like that you sound like you're protesting something. I think you come across as too controversial. Something tells me you think you can get by on your looks. Not in this country, Kung Fu. LyneTTe - May 05
Hi Massimo, thanks for the email, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Just let me take this opportunity to say how much I liked your EP. I would like to use both songs for 'Angel Wing' if that's okay. Speak soon. Aidan - May 05
