The cover art and the name make it look (at least to me) like a Goth-ish, punk-ish sort of outfit. The first song even falls into this category at least a little bit. It's what I would consider "soft-punk". Think Concrete Blond: the "Bloodletting" years. It's a very cool song. But then the rest of the CD is almost loungy. They make good use of interesting percussion with a little bossa nova/salsa beat. To add to the lounge feel they even use audience talking sound at the beginning of track 4, "17" so it sounds like you're listening in on a club act. Also, lead singer Kat has a nice powerful voice. "No Fun" has almost a carnival feel to it. Title track, "Vultures" is probably my favorite song on the CD. It has some funky guitar, with a layer of simple piano and lots of dissonant chords. It's almost spooky. I can't help imagining that this is a Punk band that grew up and mellowed out a little. It's pretty cool, if that's your thing. Amy - Producer of Collected Sounds
