Silver Sam sings songs about love and sexual failure from a uniquely male point of view, hilariously pointing out how tragic, or maybe, pathetic us guys are (speak for yourself they shout). This long awaited first album is mostly live with a few studio takes thrown in; two of which feature the truly amazing talents of Joan Coffey on lead vocal. This album presents Silver Sam as he is and includes most of his hugely popular live show. If in the end he doesn't get the girl he will certainly get a laugh. |
| Samples are low quality mono mp3's for easy streaming on slow connections. The CD is hi-fi stereo. |

Sam, like a fine wine, has just got better and better over the years. The natural heir to Jake Thackray, with songs that are funny, wry and touching by turn. TripF - Feb 08
hilariously witty songs....great stuff Anne-Marie Sanderson - Nov 07
Silver Sam, named after the song of the same name by Flipron. I know this, it was my idea. Great performer and smashing bloke, I have (probably) the only copy of the one-off supergroup: Myself, Silver Sam \& Baldilocks live at Acoustic Revolution, Acton Town 1999. Any takers? Callum Duff - Aug 06
Brilliant!Saw you for the first time last night in the Little Vic.Thanks for a great night. Owen Griffiths - Jun 06
saw silver sam in the Bedford in Balham. He was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. jimbo - Jul 05
what a great set at the troubadour last week! so varied, outrageous and entertaining. and amidst all those hilarious sex-songs, i found that song about selling a much loved home, very poignant and moving. thanks sam. jenty - Apr 05

Really enjoyed your gig @ the plough last week - lived up to all the expectation and more !! Have been listening to the album - which is fantastic - and just wondered if there was ANY chance of getting a copy of "Late Ex Lover & Long and Hard" (that is if you have even recorded them as yet). Good luck with the next album and please let me know of any more gigs you have in the london area, would not want to miss it for the world!! with many thanks your loyal fan base - Marcus Martineau (brother of Nick (@ Christies) marcus martineau - Feb 04
hello sam good to see you are still playing hope to see you soon your friend bald head ted from the days of acoustic rev ted humphreys - Oct 02
Further to the comments made by Trinity Road & seconded by myself. Texts by AA Milne, Kenneth Grahame and Joyce Lankaster Brisley remain incorrigibly popular years after they were written, possibly because they are so convincing in their general ethos that Everything Is All Right Really. Ironically, they become even more uplifting as we seek some kind of solace from generally demoralizing Stuff. But the Virtually Acoustic Club often managed to go one better - it gave you artists who wrote poignant, telling and relevant songs that still made you feel better (e.g. Michael Dunnigan); artists who just threw ripe lunacy at you in custard-pie-size proportions and still made you feel better (e.g. Andrew Bailey) and artists who managed a bit of both - humour and truly substantial words and music. In other words, Silver Sam. So when these three played on the same bill in the spring of this year, it resembled something you could put at the centre of a thesis about What Acoustic Clubs Should Be About. Frankly flawless and life-affirming. Alas, those three-pronged VIAC nights are no more. But every cloud has a Silver Sam lining. Sam's gig on September 9th 2002 c/o the VIAC nights at the Tinderbox gave us a delicious reminder of what Wednesdays used to be like. Check the man out - he simply does get better. And better. Mellifluous guitar playing, exactly the right tone of voice and vocals for the intrinsically ' bawdy but perceptive ' genre. Wistful paeans such as Angel Rush, the top-drawer guitar work of Keep In Mind and the definitive Bridge of Thighs seem to be served from a truly silver platter. Enough to persuade you on any occasion that Everything Is All Right, really. McGee - Sep 02
I agree with Trinity Road ;0) Majestic freeway between the kingdoms of Tooting Bec and Wandsworth Town that it is... McGee - Sep 02
Hi Sam, It's your old American (hippy) friend, Suzy, from Perugia and London (1967). I also visited your home in Wiltshire and you lent me 100 pounds to start a business on Portobello Road. (I traveled with Katharita in Italy -- when you had a crush on a girl named Pat.) I just discovered you on the internet. Are you performing anytime during Oct. 1-7, 2002? I'll be in London and I'll come to see you. Nice to know you're still doing music. I live in Los Angeles and I'm a writer now. Maybe I'll be seeing you! Suzy Suzy Witten - Aug 02
Songs as English as the prospect of a blackbird in Eccleston Square, and watching that blackbird whilst having morning tea along with farmhouse butter and Frank Cooper marmalade piled atop freshly-baked toasted bread. But probably more irreverent. Indisputably profane and hilarious tales of thwarted libidos, underpinned by the fact that the merciless portrayals of communication breakdown are closer to our hearts than we'd like to admit. Superlative stuff. Trinity Road SW18 - Aug 02
