It was my first visit to play there last week. Utopia for a performer - friendly welcome, great venue, excellent sound assistance, well organised, a large attentive audience and plenty of great performers of all different styles. I'll be back for sure! Alan Garmonsway - Feb 10
We thoroughly enjoyed playing and are both in agreement that it is probably the best open mic night we have played at (and we’ve done a few over the years!). It was so refreshing to play purely acoustic to an appreciative audience and the chap doing the sound (sorry, didn’t get his name) did a top job. Loved the venue and it would be fair to say that we were blown away by some of the other acts playing (especially the chap who had just had a curry and promptly played one of the best open mic performances I have ever seen!). Sorry to heap on the praise, but it really is deserved particularly as I know that you have fought hard to keep the night and venue going. For what its worth you have two ardent supporters in Oxford and we have already rearranged our diaries to come to the next one. Rock on! James and carl (Half Price) - Mar 09
This was a fantastic night, almost intimidating because there are so many really good people sharing their music, yet the feel is relaxed and extremely friendly so it's really easy to have confidence and hold your own. The place and atmosphere is amazing and really feels like a great night out even if you're not a musician. my friends had a blast, I had blast, it's a win-win for everyone. really reccomend it. looking forward to this friday! Matheus - Jul 08
Now been running over 2 years now. Still the same great variety. Always great to hear from performers and supporters of live acoustic music from Berkshire and beyond. Contact me for more details. Adam - Sep 07
Excellent venue. Wide range of styles and performers; mostly of a very high quality. Enthusiastic audience that really listens to words and music. Talented compere who makes everyone feel welcome and plays a mean guitar/mandolin/banjo. High quality PA that really captures the flavour of acoustic music. Patrick Wass - Aug 07
A mix as eclectic as this you only get at an open mike night. Everything from the sublime to the ridiculous via quirky, mainstream, country, blues and even jazz picking. Quality ranges from the pro to the rank amateur but it's all good. Special mentions for Otis (great voice, soulful delivery) and Ade (one of the great British eccentrics - with guitar). Well done to Adam Kotz for nurturing this and growing it from the few hardy souls initially to the monthly packed house it has become. John Hanratty - Mar 07
I've played at Newbury Unplugged a few times and it's always been a great night. The size of the audience has really grown over the last year and this is down to the laid back way Adam runs things. The atmosphere is very friendly, and the price of beer reasonable. Definitely recommended. Stephen Stephen Baker - Feb 07
Been running for over 18 months, presenting a huge variety of singers and musicians. Friendly atmosphere, great vibe. Contact me for more details. Adam - Jan 07
