i frequent this blinding place whenever my football/beer drinking allows me. Emma is a great host. The acoustics are good the pa excellent and she has her regular performers it seems. This is a fine openmic.

Well Mark B, take some advice, don't criticise other performers specifically unless you are something really special yourself with spectacular self penned songs. Having heard you since your comment in August, you fall somewhat short of that mark in all areas. Come and talk to me next time you don't like something I've done rather than taking a cheap shot that you think is clever presumably. You appear not to understand what open mic is about - it's about...... no you probably wouldn't understand anyway. Me; I've had my time in the sun and have lots of hard evidence to prove my case. When are you expecting your time in the said environment?

The basement has been refurbished folks - to bring it up to the standard of the music heard every Wednesday. This continues to be a great night. The big problem now is that there is none of that stimulating nicotine laden smoke drifting around the place. I'll just have to try and get used to it.

This place is a brilliant venue for any first time performer, I did my first here, and I'll be coming back for as long as Emma is running it. She does a great job and maintains a fast-moving, friendly and supportive atmosphere. A credit to Emma, and a credit to the artists who have played there. Full marks!

I played here last Wednesday (Jan 06) and absolutely loved it.        This venue is within the top three open mic venues I've ever been to. There was pin-drop silence during every performance coupled with a highly appreciative audience afterwards.        It wasn't smokey at all and people were really getting into the music.        The venue itself is very trendy, excellent ambient lighting and if you do fancy a chat - there are slightly more sound-proof coves at the back. I would recommend this place to anyone - particularly performers, it's not often you come across a place where musical talent is this much respected.

What a nice place to play. I have been going there now for a few weeks and I really like it. Warm, friendly and relaxed. I see that the Inspector (Sept 04) is obviously recovering well from his operation, the lobotomy has almost been a complete success although sadly it seems he can still type. Ignore his comments his judgement is impaired by his operation. Get down there the place deserves your support.

Helene and myself played here on the 16th March and we were very surprised at how nice the place looked... it is a very modern venue and the acoustics are great, The sounds seem to be kept very clear and sharp, we will definitely be back to play soon, i'd like to thank Emma for making us feel welcome she is a great host and she does well to get to know everybody... the whole evening is very laid back and relaxed...    Cheers Emma,

I think this is a great venue for those of us who are wanting to gain confidence to perform.  The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive.  The only criticism I have is that as a non-smoker, it is quite a difficult place to be as the atmosphere soon becomes smoke congested.  Perhaps some air-conditioning or a non-smoking area is an idea?

The River Bar has a unique atmosphere; it is a very intimate venue.For all you musicians out there it is definately worth a visit - go there,see Emma, the young lady who runs the show and get your name down to play on a return visit. I'm sure you will love the place - it's definately worth a look

Just want to thank all at the River Bar for a top night which was a Monday. We were just walking by and heard the great sounds of The Acoustic Experience night coming from the downstairs bar which is a hidden treasure, a relaxed evening, great food and a late licence, what more could you ask for!!!  Thanks again.
